About Us

May 2022, one faculty member, from the Department of Political Science, and 12 undergraduates from Utah State University, joined colleagues from the nonprofit organization, Youthlinc, in a study abroad program to Rwanda. Over a two-week period, students and program leaders met with a wide variety of individuals and organizations across the country to explore and understand how international governmental organizations, the Rwandan government, NGOs, local communities, and individuals are working to achieve justice, reconciliation, community development, and peace building in the country after violent conflict. In 1994, genocide took the lives of approximately 1 million citizens, most of them Tutsi, in approximately 100 days.

This newsletter is a compilation of student insights and reflections on this journey.
